Winter in Williamsburg- Tourists and local residents look forward to December with great joy, for it is during the Christmas season that Historic Area homes are the most charming. Houses are adorned with 18th century holiday decor fashioned from fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and local greenery. The dull shades of winter are warmed by the splendor of twinkling lights and brilliant colors. Candlelit windows seem to bring each home to life and welcome passersby into a world of comfortable, cozy cheer. Snow is a rare event—about once a decade the area gets more than a dusting. The days may be shorter, yet they're usually warm enough for a light jacket and a great round of golf! The evening chill is quickly forgotten with a dose of hot mulled cider and toasty gingerbread right from the oven.

Spring in Williamsburg - Temperatures become quite pleasant, and the promise of balmy breezes and sunny days finds sweaters off and windows up. Flowers and trees begin their long reign of glory with a most magnificent debut. The trees bud, the flowers open and bloom, and color awakens in every imaginable size and shape. Garden week is a welcome celebration for spectators and growers alike. Say golf, and you'll find it in abundance; say sightseeing or a weekend at Busch Gardens and you can keep the whole family happy; say romance and you'll find lovers dining al fresco on a warm afternoon. Say shopping and the outlet malls and Pottery Factory are yours for the indulging. Whether you're spending a week or a day, a Williamsburg spring is sure to satisfy your senses.

Summer in Williamsburg - Take a week for Williamsburg in the summer–there's so much to do. Just dress lightly and carry an umbrella! You are in the sunny south—so a little humidity and heat are expected—it's our wettest season. Most of the rain comes in thunderstorms that creep up at the close of day, and stay just long enough to cool everyone off. However, if the temperature gets a bit high, try Water Country or the water-based rides at Busch Gardens for a cool-down—engineered especially for those hot afternoons. Local beaches always offer fun for couples and families, and the large old shade trees along the streets of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown offer a relaxing respite for a tasty picnic. Summer evenings bring on a breeze, and dining at one of the outdoor cafes can become a most pleasant interval.

Autumn in Williamsburg- This is one of the area's most beautiful times of year. Warm September days wind down into crisp October afternoons, and spectacular fall color begins to turn trees into works of art. The foliage-feast-for-the-eyes surrounds you as you wander in and out of galleries, gardens, exhibits and shops. It peaks at the end of the month and lasts well into November. Busch Gardens is open through October, the Michelob Golf Classic is part of the PGA “A” list, and the sightseeing spots are at a premium. The days are quite pleasant—a sweater or light jacket will suffice. Night frosts don’t appear until late November to mid-December, and even then, the aroma of fires burning and apple cider brewing will make you want to linger in the fresh evening air. Make Williamsburg your favorite fall getaway. You'll be glad you did.
